The Mentalist

Here is a playbook i put together for Blades in the Dark. I lifted most of it directly from the Medium submission to the Unusual Suspects Playbook Jam by Adrenaline Games, so it would be cheap for me to submit it to the jam. The medium is cool, I basically just reworked what didnt work for me.

Mentalist: an eccentric oracle or alienist

When you play a Mentalist, you earn xp when you address a challenge with psychology or arcane ritual.

you could play the mentalist as basically a less physically-active whisper sort, or you could be a medium who channels specific ghosts for people, or pretends to. the fake medium angle i didnt really play up, since i figured it would be pretty sick to play a slide who is a fake medium.

I gave it 9 special abilities instead of 7 or 8, but that shouldnt have any effect on game balance. a few of the abilities are from the whisper playbook, one is from slide, i think. the ones i made up myself are astral projection, channeller, and hypnotism. the others are original to the medium playbook.
